Sephora Eyeshadow Crayon Swatch & Review

EyeCrayon

I picked up this pencil eyeshadow when I was in France, as sadly we don’t have Sephora here in the UK. I actually got two shades, but this has been by far my favourite. This is 04 Taupe and I also got 15 Purple, which you can see in my French Beauty Haul. You can use these as both an eyeshadow and an eyeliner. I have only tried them as eyeshadows, but think I will try the purple as an eyeliner soon because the colour is quite strong for an all over shadow.

I love that this is a perfect everyday colour, which applies so easily. A couple of sweeps across each eyelid is all it needs for flawless colour. The crayon is creamy, so can be blended. However, as this is a long-wearing, waterproof product, you need to blend it straight after applying. I’m talking straight away, don’t even take the time to apply to your other eye. This isn’t a problem for me, as the fact that it lasts crease free all day without any primer is well worth it!

As you can see in the swatch, this is a shimmery formula, which helps to brighten the eye. Did you know that taupe is a great nude for complimenting blue and green eyes, as it is opposite them on the colour wheel?

The swatches of this on my eye were taken after I got in from work about 6pm, and I apply my makeup at 7am, living up to its claim of 12 hour wear. As for waterproof, I’m not 100% certain as I have removed it by rubbing in the shower, but this is after the 12 hour wear time is over. A fresh swatch on my wrist doesn’t budge when washing my hands though, so I think it is fairly waterproof.

In fact, the only drawback to this (aside from lack of availability in the UK) is the price. This cost €11, which is about £8. It is a fair sized pencil, but I have seen others by drugstore brands like Rimmel and Bourjouis for £4-6.

Overall, I am really pleased with this Sephora crayon and wish I had bought a second colour which was as wearable as Taupe, because I have been wearing this to work so much. I guess that just means I need to go back to Sephora… Or invest in some of the other brands on sale here in the UK.

Have you tried any pencil eyeshadows? Which do you think I should try next?

I still can’t believe Sephora got taken away from Bluewater.. I hear they are coming back but GAH! I mean seriously, I just don’t get it.

    Why are they not here?!?!

I always stick up when I go visit my family luckily as their own brand stuff is really good

    • Aw thanks! 😊 This is my first eyeshadow crayon, but I definitely need more. So good for when I’m running late for work! Have you tried any others you’d recommend?
I’ll believe sephora is coming back to the UK when I see people posting pictures of a shop front! I don’t know why they ever left, you’d think it’d be a massive hit considering they stock so many brands you can’t get here & they’re own brand is so good!x
