I’ve had my Glossybox for a few days now and have had chance to go through and try out all the products I received!
Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick in Mandarina
As I said in my first impressions post, orange really is not my colour. This lipstick did feel nice on but I didn’t leave it on long enough to make any comment about how it lasts. It’s strongly pigmented though. If it had been the pink or red version Glossybox were sending out this month I would’ve given it more of a chance, but for me this was a miss and I’m not sure I’d go purchase one of the other colours at £20 a go – that’s more than I spent on my Mac lipstick and more than the Clarins lip glosses I’m lusting after.
Absolute Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer
I’m quite pleased with this product and at £2.90 ($4.99) I would definitely purchase this again. This goes on quite sticky, so I don’t think it can be used to neutralise redness without a powder to set it. It works really well as a primer. I used it with my NYX Eyeshadow, as I’d been finding that would crease quite a lot by the end of the day. With the primer, there was a very slight bit of creasing, which I think is probably because I’m not used to applying the primer.
Carmex Lip Balm
This is a lip balm I’m sure most people have tried before. It’s a good product, works well, but is initially quite strong. It makes your lips tingle and is a bit minty, which I like. At £2.69, it’s a good price for the product, but I wouldn’t say its my favourite lip balm.
Color Club Nail Varnish in Glossy Seal
I really love the colour of this nail varnish. It’s a rich blue with grey undertones that makes me think of the navy. I actually have a top that this matches perfectly so I’ll definitely be wearing it again. At £4.70 ($8) its a reasonable price for the size. It hasn’t chipped too badly since I’ve been wearing it, I haven’t put a top coat over it because I wanted to see how glossy it was. It’s nice and shiny. However, a big problem I had with this was the application. I put on one coat, then went back over to even out any streaks and the brush would pull off the colour I’d already put on in places, which made it awkward to get an even finish, so I’m not sure if I’d buy another colour from this brand.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
This mascara makes big claims about what it can do. Lengthening? Yes. Curls your lashes? Yes, but I still used my eyelash curlers. Adds volume? Not as much as the Va Va Voom mascara I currently use. Conditioning? Hard to tell. I don’t think I’ve used this enough to notice if my lashes are healthier and longer, but I’m not sure how I’m meant to measure the condition and health of my lashes anyway. It’s not like your hair where you can see split ends and feel its getting dry. However, I did like the brush on this, as I found it was really good at separating lashes and preventing clumps. I did get some transfer from this onto my upper lid from my lashes. Would I purchase this again? At £19.50 I don’t think so.
That’s everything I got in my box this month. A bit of a mixed bag, but overall I am pleased with what I received and I’m already looking forward to next month’s box.
